Tom Holland suffered a mild concussion on the set of the next Spider-Man movie, Variety reported on Sunday, September 21.
The English actor, 29, was injured on the Spider-Man: Brand New Day set on Friday, September 19, according to the outlet. Holland is set to take a temporary break from filming as a precaution, and producers will reportedly meet on Monday, September 22, to discuss “a plan going forward.”
Us Weekly has reached out to Holland’s representatives for comment.
Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios announced in early August that production on a fourth Spider-Man film starring Holland was underway. The official Spider-Man social media accounts later shared a video of the actor in his Spidey suit.
In an August 10 Instagram post from the set, Holland gushed, “My fourth ever day one on Spider-Man. You know, it’s funny putting the suit on. It feels different this time somehow. It’s also the first time we’ve ever had fans on set for day one. So, it’s really exciting to share this with them. I’m just going to do my best. Hopefully get it right. No pressure.”
Despite his apparent injury, Holland looked on fine form on Saturday, September 20, as he and fiancée Zendaya attended an event hosted by his charity, The Brothers Trust, in London. Holland runs the organization with his three brothers, Sam, Harry and Paddy Holland.
The actor hosted the annual Posh Pub Quiz at Christie’s on Saturday, looking smart in a black tuxedo. Zendaya, 29, wore a black dress for the occasion, per photos posted on Instagram by guest Laura Hope Whitaker.
“The Tom Holland Posh Pub Quiz for the @thebrotherstrust was one to remember!” Whitaker described the evening in the caption of her post.
Whitaker continued, “We hugged, we chatted, we sang & we tried (and lost) the pub quiz. But we got autographed spoons so I think we really won!”
“We chatted with Tom, his family and met Zendaya. Best quote of the night was when she met Nicky and said, ‘I’ve heard so much about you!’” Whitaker added.
News broke in January that Holland and Zendaya are engaged after several years of dating. His father, comedian Dominic Holland, confirmed the news in a January 10 blog post.
“The big news this week is a good example of just such an opportunity for me — are they/aren’t they engaged? Zendaya wearing a ring and Tom nowhere to be seen adding to the intrigue,” shared Dominic. “The engagement has now been confirmed and why I am writing about it here but without adding anything new and juicy like a date, venue, guest list …”
According to Dominic, Tom “purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter.”
