The Alabama Crimson Tide are in the College Football Playoff quarterfinals and ready to face the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers in the Rose Bowl, but they are not satisfied.
For a program that has shaped what the sport looks like in the 21st century, anything other than being at the top of the college football landscape is considered a disappointment.
After falling behind rival Georgia this past decade, the Crimson Tide have tried everything they can to stabilize the program and build it back up in the wake of Nick Saban’s departure.
Alabama can take one massive step forward if it beats the Hoosiers on New Year’s Day to make the CFP semifinals, and it can take another gigantic leap the following day if they go after one of their other archrivals.

Prediction: Cam Coleman (Auburn) signs with Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama already beat Auburn this year in the Iron Bowl, but if they really want to put the death knell in the Tigers’ hearts, they can do so by signing wide receiver Cam Coleman.
Coleman, a five-star recruit out of the state of Alabama, was instantly made On3’s No. 1-ranked transfer portal when he announced his Auburn exit on Monday. A program-changing player, Coleman has lived up to the hype and more, even on a disappointing Auburn team that has failed to prosper despite his impressive numbers.
If the Crimson Tide could land Coleman, Alabama would arguably have one of the strongest one-two punches at wideout in recent memory, with Ryan Williams lining up alongside the former Auburn Tiger.
Coleman had 56 receptions for 708 yards and five touchdowns in 2025 for the Tigers.
His former high school teammate and friend, Red Morgan, who plays defensive back for the Crimson Tide, is already attempting to recruit him to Tuscaloosa.
The transfer portal officially opens on Jan. 2, 2026.
