Tron: Ares, the third live-action installment in the film franchise, returns audiences to the Grid that Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) first discovered over four decades ago. The movie boasts a mostly new cast (Bridges does return, albeit briefly) and adds a new AI threat to the mix, leading to a world-colliding race for survival. Tron: Ares didn’t hit it big in the box office; will it do better on streaming? We’re about to find out.
Jared Leto stars as the titular Program, Ares, who is brought into the analog world by Julian Dillinger (Evan Peters), the CEO of ENCOM, for nefarious reasons. Greta Lee is Eve Kim, a competing tech mogul who becomes Ares’s target.
Jodie Turner-Smith, Gillian Anderson, Arturo Castro and Hasan Minhaj also star. Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) directed Tron: Ares, which you can watch on Disney Plus next week.
