The Minnesota Twins kicked off their deadline by dealing Chris Paddack to the Detroit Tigers on Monday, and according to MLB Insider Jon Morosi, they aren’t done yet.
Morosi reported that Minnesota has been fielding calls on its bullpen arms and that Harrison Bader has been popular in conversations.
Bader is having a strong season for the Twins, and while he has been shifted off of his natural center field has continued to have electric play in the outfield. Bader could be an option for teams that are searching for a defensively focused outfielder at the trade deadline to secure centerfield.
The Twins also have a pair of tantalizing bullpen arms in Griffin Jax and, more intriguingly, Jhoan Duran. Both Jax and Duran are under team control until 2028 and have both produced strong seasons to this point.
Duran has been electric in the Twins’ closer role, saving 20 or more games in back-to-back seasons and is on his way to reaching that mark again this year. Along with a high strikeout rate and limiting home runs, Duran has shown that he is capable of taking control of the ninth inning wherever he lands.
Meanwhile, Jax has performed a much different role for the twins this season, and despite a spike in the right-hander’s ERA, has been striking out batters at an alarming rate against opposing offenses. If the Twins choose to move the pair, both should net a solid return, especially with multiple years of team control remaining.
