Two people are in custody following a large-scale police operation at the Entertainment Quarter in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
One of the people arrested allegedly had what is believed to be an imitation firearm.
Police swarmed the precinct on Monday afternoon with multiple vehicles spotted speeding down Driver Avenue at Moore Park, past the SCG and Sydney Football Stadium.
People have been urged to avoid the area, but NSW Police said there was no ongoing threat to public safety after the two people were arrested about 5pm.
Footage posted to social media showed dozens of officers, including police in tactical gear, near restaurants on Bent Street where the arrest appears to have taken place.
