He also faces five counts of carnal knowledge of an animal; two counts of possessing an obscene article; and several charges relating the production, possession and distribution of child exploitation material.
The man is due to face Perth Magistrates Court today.
Sex crimes division Detective Superintendent David Palmer said offending of the nature alleged against the man represented an “extreme breach of trust”.
“Children rely on adults for their safety and protection, and any allegation that a child has been harmed is deeply distressing for the wider community,” Palmer said.
“This investigation commenced after extensive inquiries were conducted by Karratha Detectives from the Pilbara Joint Response Team and officers from Tom Price.
“Regional and metropolitan police, as well as our partner agency Parkerville Children and Youth Care, is supporting the children and their families with specialised therapeutic support through the MIST program, including trauma-informed counselling, advocacy, and family support.
“This investigation demonstrates the commitment of the Western Australia Police Force to thoroughly investigate reports of child abuse, no matter how complex or confronting the circumstances may be.”
