Steven McBee Jr. and Calah Jackson’s relationship drama came to a head on the latest episode of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys — but are they really broken up?

During the Monday, July 28, episode of the Bravo series, Steven brought Calah to the Ozarks with his family, claiming they were just friends. Everyone got along at the start of the trip, but tension began to rise when Steven asked his mom to cosign on an apartment for Calah in Dallas.

“Am I a dumb bitch for going? Probably,” Calah confessed during the episode, before noting she still wanted to go on the vacation. She later told Cole McBee’s girlfriend, Kacie Adkison, that she and Steven “sometimes” have sex despite being broken up.

Once alcohol got involved, Calah and Steven’s younger brother Cole got into a heated exchange after she claimed Steven has had an “easy” life. Cole defended his big brother, who took over as CEO of McBee Farm & Cattle after their dad, Steve McBee, stepped down sometime in 2024.

Steven didn’t come to Calah’s defense, later telling the cameras that she is “the definition of a mean drunk.” When things escalated, Steven had Cole’s back, leaving Calah in tears.

“I have so much tea on this family. If I wanted to, I could bury them,” Calah threatened during her confessional after leaving the vacation house.

While it seemed like the end of their relationship, Steven previously revealed that he and Calah had broken up “15 or 16” times since they started dating in 2021. (The pair met on Joe Millionaire: For Richer or Poorer, which aired in 2022.)

Steven, however, exclusively told Us Weekly this month that they have remained broken up since filming wrapped at the end of 2024.

“The way that you see the rest of season 2 shaping out are the real conversations Calah and I have at the end,” Steven explained, confirming that their breakup tally is in the “double digits.”

He noted during the season 2 finale, fans will see how they end their rocky romance. “You’ll see how that all plays out and we’ve really been broken up since then,” Steven shared.

The farmer claimed he and Calah have “a tremendous amount of respect for each other and still hold each other in the highest regard,” but reiterated, “We’ve been separated since then.”

Looking back at his and Calah’s relationship — especially at how involved his family became toward the end — Steven said he does regret blurring the lines.

“I’m very, very open with my family about things that are going on, and I’ve realized, especially watching it back now, that is not always to the benefit of a relationship,” Steven told Us.

Steven admitted, “There was definitely some foot-in-mouth moments without a doubt that I regret. I wish I would’ve held things tighter to my chest.”

Although Steven told Us he is single, he revealed that once the show premiered in June, he contacted Calah.

“There was a moment where we watched the first couple episodes a couple months ago, just seeing ’em for the first time, and whenever I left, I called Calah,” Steven said, referring to when he advised his siblings not to reach out to Calah in May when her sister died.

He later confessed that the “timing” was bad, but he and Calah had broken up days before her sister passed and he thought it was the right decision to keep his family away from her.

“I said, ‘Hey, I just want you to know my family and I, we handled that wrong. There were so many ways we could have handled that better, and I do want to apologize for that,’” Steven recalled of the text he sent in the aftermath.

Steven also confirmed that his family all apologized to Calah for their actions. According to Calah’s Instagram, she and Steven have remained broken up since late 2024.

The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys airs on Bravo Mondays at 9 p.m. ET.
