Late actor Mike Heslin is making headlines more than one year after his death due to a lawsuit filed by his husband, Scotty Dynamo.

Dynamo revealed in July 2024 that Heslin had died unexpectedly at 30 years old.

“On July 2nd, my husband, best friend, and soulmate @mikeheslin passed away from an unexpected cardiac event after a week long battle in the hospital. Michael was young, in perfect health, and the doctors have no explanation for what happened,” the musical artist’s Instagram post read at the time.

A wrongful death lawsuit filed by Dynamo (real name Nicolas James Wilson) against a Las Vegas restaurant in September 2025 shared more insight into what allegedly happened to Heslin. In the suit, Dynamo claimed that Heslin had been dining at Javier’s Las Vegas (owned by Aria Resort and Casino) with two friends when he “collapsed,” according to court docs obtained by Us Weekly.

Dynamo alleged that the establishment failed to perform CPR on his husband in a “timely manner” despite it being clear that Heslin needed medical attention. He is suing the restaurant on five counts of wrongful death, loss of consortium, negligence, gross negligence, and negligent hiring, retention, training and supervision. Dynamo is seeking $15,000 in damages. Us reached out to the Aria Resort and Casino for comment.

Who Was Mike Heslin?

Heslin was born on July 20, 1988, in Redlands, California, according to his IMDb. He was known for writing and executive producing the 2020 TV series The Influencers, as well as the 2021 short Happy Halloween. Heslin also acted in several projects, including Paramount+’s 2023 series Lioness and Lifetime’s 2023 film The Holiday Proposal Plan.

While it’s unclear exactly when Heslin and Dynamo began dating, the actor frequently documented his life with his partner via Instagram and made his love for Dynamo known online. The pair got engaged in September 2022, and Heslin shared photos of the proposal.

“On September 16th during sunset at one of our favorite places in the whole world, I asked my best friend to marry me and he said yes 👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨💍🥰,” he captioned the post. “From international distance and immigration to pandemics and cancer, there is truly nothing we can’t overcome. I can’t wait to marry you and celebrate our journey with all of our loved ones ❤️ LYSM.”

The couple later tied the knot on November 11, 2023.

“On 11.11.23, I had the distinct honor of marrying my best friend and it was truly the best weekend of my entire LIFE!!! 🥹👨‍❤️‍💋‍👨🫶,” Heslin captioned wedding photos.

Mike Heslin Died From an ‘Unexpected Cardiac Event’ in July 2024

Dynamo shared a lengthy tribute to Heslin while revealing his husband’s death.

“Michael was brilliant, selfless, talented, and a real-life guardian angel. He single-handedly carried me through multiple rounds of cancer,” he wrote. “He was the first person everyone would call to share good news with, and he was the perfect person to call if they needed a shoulder to lean on or the best advice. He truly was the sweetest, most caring, and loving man on earth, and he brought out the absolute best in everyone who had the pleasure to cross paths with him.”

Dynamo added that they had been “in the early stages of starting a family” prior to Heslin’s death.

“You always told me that you felt like you were meant to be a dad, and I couldn’t agree more. You would be the world’s most perfect father,” he continued. “If I ever become a dad, I am going to name my son after you and hope that I manage to raise him to become at least half the man you are.”

Heslin is survived by his husband, his parents, John and Geriann, and siblings Andrew, Timothy, and Anna. His brother, Robert, also died unexpectedly at age 30 in March 2023.

Mike Heslin’s Husband Filed a Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against a Las Vegas Restaurant

In Dynamo’s lawsuit, he claimed that after Heslin collapsed at Javier’s, it was “immediately apparent” that he was “suffering from a medical emergency.”

“Michael’s friends immediately started yelling out for help. [They] quickly moved the table back and away to get Michael on the floor — signaling distress that should have prompted immediate intervention,” the filing continued. “Over the course of the next several minutes, multiple employees of ARIA and/or JAVIER’S approached the scene of the incident and saw Michael exhibiting obvious signs of a medical emergency.”

Dynamo alleged that the employees “stood by, took no immediate lifesaving action, and failed to initiate or support efforts that could have saved Michael’s life.” The complaint also claimed that a woman began performing CPR on Heslin and was “forcefully removed” from doing so by an employee, which ”[prevented] her from continuing compressions on Michael and [interrupted] this lifesaving measure.”

The defendants were also accused of failing to “keep a stock and inventory of emergency response equipment” and “activate a known and expected emergency response protocol, including summoning trained personnel or securing and deploying an automated external defibrillator (AED), which was believed to be available on site.”

A spokesperson for MGM Resorts International, the parent company of Aria, responded to the allegations in a statement to Us: “These claims are not aligned with the facts, and we will respond through the legal process.”
