The 2025 Emmy Awards being on network television meant cursing was a big no-no — but that didn’t stop some celebs from letting the F-word fly during their acceptance speeches.
Host Nate Bargatze implemented a running bit about acceptance speeches at the beginning of the show, hoping that it would help winners shorten their time on stage.
“What I came up with is I’m going to donate $100,000 to the Boys & Girls Club. That’s what the show’s starting out with,” the 46-year-old comedian told the crowd. “I know how hard you guys have all worked to get here. I’m not trying to take anything away. Forty-five seconds, that’s what you got. If you want to do more than that, do it on social media later, more people are going to see it there anyway.”
If the winner went over the 45-second allotted time, Bargatze’s donation would decrease. By the end of the show, the donation was in the negatives and Bargatze had been cussed out by John Oliver. (Elsewhere in the show, Bargatze also quipped about implementing a swear jar.)
Following the donation bit, Bargatze ended up donating $350,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
