“Hopefully I’m the best man, we’ll see. Trav has a lot of friends,” he said of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in a social media teaser for the episode. “I’m just hoping to get the opportunity.”
Just two weeks after dropping her new album, Swift and Travis Kelce revealed their engagement via a joint Instagram post.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” they captioned a slew of shots from the proposal.
Jason Kelce hit the like button on the engagement announcement soon after it was posted and later spoke out about the news via New Heights‘ social media.
“We did record this podcast on Monday, which was Travis’ one day off, so he is not here to address this himself, but we felt necessary as a team here at New Heights to get together and send Travis and Taylor a giant congratulations for being engaged, yeah!” he said in a video on Wednesday. “The proposal heard round the world. F*** yeah!”
Jason and Travis Kelce’s dad, Ed Kelce, also spoke out and shared details about the sweet Missouri proposal.
“Travis actually did the proposal, oh, maybe two weeks, not quite two weeks ago,” he told News 5 Cleveland on Friday. “He was going to put it off till this week. I think she was getting maybe a little antsy, but he was going to put her off till this week, to, you know, make some grand thing, to make it a big special event.”
He added: “I told him repeatedly, you know, you could do it on the side of the road, do it any place that makes it a special event…when you get down on one knee and ask her to marry you.”
