A woman has been charged after allegedly poisoning herself and a young child south of Brisbane.
The 43-year-old woman consumed a poison and gave it to the 10-year-old girl at Yarrabilba in Logan on March 12, according to police.
Both became sick and vomited before being taken to Logan Hospital.
The child was discharged the same day, but the woman remained in hospital until Saturday, when she was released into police custody.
Child protection officers charged her with one count of attempted murder.
On Sunday, police declined to confirm whether the child was the woman’s daughter, but noted they were known to each other, and that the alleged poisoning was being treated as a domestic violence incident.
The woman was remanded in custody and was due to appear at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on May 12.
