A man has been taken to hospital under police guard after the body of a woman was found at the Pullman Hotel in Penrith on Sunday.
Detectives from the NSW Police Homicide Squad were called to the scene and have opened an investigation.
The woman, yet to be formally identified, was discovered dead in the same room of the hotel as the man, who had suffered cuts to his arms, according to a statement by NSW Police.
The man, understood to be in his 50s, was airlifted to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition after being treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
