California gubernatorial candidate Katie Porter has released a new political advert referencing a video that went viral last year showing her yelling at a staffer.
The video, which was obtained by Politico and dated to 2021, showed Porter speaking with the former energy secretary Jennifer Granholm on a call when a staff member stepped into the background. “Get out of my f****** shot,” Porter told the employee.
The staffer said she was trying to correct an error Porter had just made, to which Porter responded: “You also were in my shot before that. Stay out of my shot.”
In the new advert, Porter says she is not like most candidates running for governor, and that she actually understands what Americans are going through.
“A single mom of three kids, I know what it is like to push the shopping cart. My mini-van has almost 200,000 miles. I have a grown kid who may soon be living on my couch,” she says.
“To give Californians what they need, it’s going to take standing up to Donald Trump, calling out greedy corporations, and stepping on some toes along the way.”
She adds: “Now, could you guys please get out of my shot.”
This is a developing story. More to follow.
