Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA chief executive Aaron Morey has used a Leadership Matters breakfast event in Perth to remind the local audience of the importance of the state’s resources industry to regional communities.
Introducing One Nation leader Pauline Hanson at the business event, Morey said the Queensland senator speaks often about the importance of regional Australia and the communities that built our country.
“Across much of regional Australia, people have watched the pulse of their communities fade,” he said.
“The bank branch closes. The local paper folds. Young people pack their bags and leave. Another shopfront goes dark.
“But one institution has refused to walk away from regional Australia. Mining.”
