A Bravo exec is shedding light on Amanda Batula’s mindset during the In the City reunion — and how it differed from her approach to Summer House season 10.
“There is a reunion that we just shot. And what I think will be interesting is how different Amanda is on the In the City reunion versus the Summer House reunion,” Noah Samton, the SVP of current production for Bravo and Peacock unscripted, told Variety in an article published on Tuesday, June 16. “It’s a whole new Amanda.”
He continued, “I can only say so much, but it’s a different cast around her. There’s not the pressures, and the situation that she was dealing with at Summer House is not there for In the City. It’s just different.”
As the three-part Summer House season 10 reunion aired earlier this month, Amanda, 34, reunited with estranged husband Kyle Cooke to film the In the City season 1 reunion. The Summer House spinoff, which premiered in May, follows the pair’s group of friends in New York City.
Despite ongoing drama surrounding the pair amid her romance with West Wilson, photos of Amanda and Kyle, 43, laughing outside of the reunion circulated online.
“Kyle cares a great deal about her, and he continues to worry about her, with everything she’s going through, and I think he feels very protective over her,” Samton explained while being asked about the images and their relationship now.
Amanda was infamously in the hot seat during the Summer House three-part season 10 reunion, where she was questioned by her cast members — including Kyle and ex-BFF Ciara Miller — about her budding romance with West, 31.
Following the reunion, Bravo announced that the network would be dropping a bonus episode, titled “The Aftermath,” featuring conversations between Amanda and costar Lindsay Hubbard, Kyle and West, and Ciara and West’s ex Meija Moreno. During a heart-to-heart with Lindsay, 39, Amanda opened up about the beginning of her romance with West.
“When he brought up, ‘Is there something happening?’ It’s like this door open[ed] and I’m like, ‘Wait, what the f*** is going on? Are these feelings more than just enjoying hanging out with him as a friend and having fun?’” Amanda said.
When Lindsay asked, “So he manipulated you?” Amanda replied, “Those are not my words.”
Amanda went on to explain that she was worried about being “alone the rest of [her] life” following her split from Kyle, adding that she “felt unlovable for so long.”
“You are getting your self worth from Kyle or lack thereof and that ruined you. Now you’re doing that with another guy,” Lindsay said, as Amanda acknowledged, “I think I was getting it confused.”
In the City airs on Bravo Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
