Bruce Davis, a follower of cult leader Charles Manson who was convicted in two 1969 killings, has died at 83, officials said.
A spokeswoman for the Solano County Coroner’s Office confirmed to Fox News Digital that Davis had died, but didn’t give additional details. According to TMZ, Davis was pronounced dead at 11:03 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the California Medical Facility in Vacaville, California, where he was serving his sentence.
Davis was sentenced to life in prison in 1972, following his role in the murders of Donald “Shorty” Shea, a 35-year-old Hollywood stuntman, and Gary Hinman, a 34-year-old musician and a friend of several Manson family members.
Davis was not the direct killer of either victim and faced no accusations of involvement in the home-invasion slayings that claimed the lives of pregnant actress Sharon Tate and four other people.

The Manson cult follower had been recommended for parole numerous times, but they were repeatedly reversed by governors, which kept him behind bars.
In 2021, California Gov. Gavin Newsom rejected his bid for parole, finding that Davis “currently poses an unreasonable danger to society if released from prison at this time.”

Davis saw his parole hearing delayed in 2024 after he appeared on a true-crime podcast. He spoke with Keith Rovere, a former prison chaplain and host of “The Lighter Side of Serial Killers,” in two separate phone interviews — in February 2023 and April 2023 — discussing his Christian faith while incarcerated and a book he was working on behind bars.
He told Fox News Digital in an email at the time, “I’ve yet to hear the podcast.”

Steve Grogan, a Manson family member also convicted in Shea’s killing, was released on parole in 1985 after directing investigators to the victim’s remains.
