Fans of the iconic “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” will need to shell out some serious cash to chow down at the first official franchise pizzeria in Santa Monica, with prices outraging many.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Pizzeria (1444 Third Street Promenade Santa Monica, CA 90401) opened with a soft launch last week, ahead of the grand opening on Saturday, June 20.
The well-known digital creator Foodie Gang Capo got a sneak peek of the restaurant during the soft opening, calling the pizza “legit” on Reddit, though one image that got many fans’ attention.
He posted the official menu — which revealed outlandish prices that ranged from $6.50 to $9 for a single slice — and $39 to $54 for a whole pie.
The Cowabunga Cheese ($6.50 slice/$39 pie) is the most affordable, followed by Raphael’s Pepperoni Bash ($7.50 slice/$45 pie).
Four pies — Shredder’s Revenge, TCRI, Mutagen Mushroom and Green Machine Supreme — cost $8.50 per slice and $51 for a whole pie, but those aren’t even the most expensive.
The last two offerings – Splinter’s Supreme and Rocksteady’s Meat Smash – top out at $9 per slice and a whopping $54 for a whole pie.
Those who want to Build Your Own Pizza starts at $39, with a choice of red or white sauce, with additional meats costing $6 each, veggies $3 and garnish $1.50 each.
The shop also sells a variety of merchandise, with t-shirts ranging from $38 to $50, hats going for $36, pins for $12, sweaters for $70, lanyards for $18, skateboard decks for $80 and totes ranging from $32 to $36.
The menu image spread through social media, with one X user dubbed @GrouchyGodzilla stating, “Found a picture of the menu for the new TMNT Pizzeria online and yeah it’s expensive.”
He added, “I knew it would be pricey, but I wasn’t expecting $50 for a whole pizza. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still excited to check it out but think I’ll just get one slice.”
Another X user – @KineticNinjaTTV – responded to TMNT Pizzeria co-founder Andy Nguyen’s tweet, adding, “lol $50 for some of the most dog s—t looking pizza I’ve ever seen ya I don’t think you’ll be having very many returning customers chief.”
Others took to FoodieGang’s Reddit post to bash the high prices, including solidpeyo, who said, “Yeah the price of that pizza is too much.”

RKO_out_of_no_where added, “$50 for a damn pizza?! They’re on f—n’ drugs. I 100% wanted to go until I saw its $40 for a cheese pizza. Gtfo.”
Since this is officially licensed by Paramount, others mentioned that the licensing fees the pizzeria pays to Paramount and Nickelodeon likely factor into the price.
Another Redditor – iTZBLaSToFFTiMe – added, “I work at a pizza parlor where we buy all Italian-imported products, so our pizzas are a bit pricey (in the $22-26) range, this is blatant highway robbery, holy H—l.
The Redditor added, “Did they really need to make it TMNT-Themed because you’re paying for them to pay for that license. Yikes.”
Since the Turtles franchise has always been based in New York City, others were baffled why this first official TMNT Pizzeria is based in Los Angeles at all.
“You open a TMNT pizza store…. and you choose LA of all places?” said Redditor Ecstatic_Teaching906.
Others took to one of one of the TMNT Pizzeria’s Instagram post where they showed numerous people eating the pies, some who bashed the price, and others who questioned whether it had any cheese.
“50 dollars a pizza isn’t worth it. TMNT wouldn’t eat that pizza,” said Instagram user ro_ro_ro_your_boats.
“Where is the cheese at…” added IG user vanessa.tellez0303 while mushrohm added, “Is the cheese in the room with us?”
