It used to be “you snooze, you lose.” Now, Grubhub is looking to change that for college kids.
From Oct. 18 through Nov. 1, the food delivery company is offering sleepy students “Snooze Insurance” should they pass out before their food arrives.
On campuses across the country, students order post-party food orders in the wee hours, but often don’t stay awake to receive them. Grubhub found that 72% of college students have snoozed through a late-night delivery order.
“We know the drill: students get a late-night craving, place the Grubhub order, and then between studying, a late-night hang, or one too many episodes of their favorite show, the couch wins and sleep sneaks in,” Christopher Krautler, Director of Grubhub Consumer Communications, said in a statement.
Now, with “Snoozer Insurance,” if you do sleep through a late-night delivery, you’ll get the chance to receive $15 toward a do-over meal.
“Grubhub Snooze Insurance isn’t about judgment; it’s about understanding that college life runs on its own schedule,” Krautler said. “If anyone deserves a second chance at getting that midnight fix, it’s students juggling academics, social life, and sleep.”
All students need to do is be a Grubhub+ Student member and text “DELIVERY” to 1-844-954-OOPS (6677) every Saturday at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET, and the $15 will be ready to use in the app.
There will only be a limited supply of codes that drop weekly on a first-come, first-serve basis, so don’t sleep on the chance to get your do-over — especially with the biggest late-night weekend of the year coming up, Halloweekend.
Comments on Grubhub’s Instagram post about the “insurance” were full of excitement — and some jealousy from people who already graduated.
“Where the hell were you in 2018?!” one asked.
“Coulda used this when I was in school!” another wrote.
