During Andrew Mountbatten Windsor and Sarah Ferguson’s marriage, they welcomed two daughters together.

Andrew, formerly known as Prince Andrew before he was stripped of his HRH titles in October 2025, and Sarah were married from 1986 to 1996. They welcomed daughter Princess Beatrice in 1988 and daughter Princess Eugenie in 1990, remaining friendly even after their divorce.

“He’s such a good man,” Sarah said of her former spouse on a 2023 episode of Good Morning Britain. “I think the spotlight needs to come off him and let him get on with his life to rebuild. He’s a very good grandfather.”

Andrew was accused of sexual misconduct in 2019 and vehemently denied the accusations. He stepped back from his duties as a senior working royal at the time, which was finalized in 2025 when Andrew’s brother King Charles III formally stripped his sibling of his titles.

While neither Beatrice nor Eugenie publicly addressed their father’s scandal, they each took a step back from the spotlight.

Keep scrolling to revisit Andrew and Sarah’s relationships with their daughters through the years:

2002

Eugenie was diagnosed with scoliosis when she was 12 years old.

“My mum caught my scoliosis early and I was lucky enough to get the help I needed at 12 years old,” Eugenie wrote via Instagram in June 2024. “I thank her so much for that and also thank her for the confidence to be proud of my scar. She removed all the stigma around having scoliosis for me by confidently showing people what I’d been through and it took all the fear and anxiety out of being different at such a young age. I am forever grateful and wish everyone to be proud of their scars.”

2018

Andrew walked his youngest daughter, Eugenie, down the aisle when she married Jack Brooksbank in October 2018.

2019

The next year, Virginia Giuffre accused Andrew of sexual assault when she was 17 years old and filed a lawsuit against him. The former Duke of York vehemently denied the allegations before he and Giuffre settled out of court for an undisclosed sum.

As Andrew navigated fallout from the scandal, his daughters remained quiet.

“Eugenie’s husband and Beatrice’s fiancé [Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi] are standing by them and are doing everything they can to distract the girls from the situation and calm them down,” a source told Us in December 2019. “There have been scandals surrounding Andrew and Sarah Ferguson in the past, and while this is the worst yet, they know that marrying into the royal family comes with its ups and downs.”

According to the insider, the York princesses were “going through hell” but remained in contact with Andrew.

“Bea is talking to her dad most days,” the source added.

Beatrice and Edoardo threw a lavish engagement party that same month, though Andrew was absent from the celebration.

2021

Andrew and Sarah’s family expanded when Eugenie and Jack welcomed their first baby, son August in February 2021.

“Having not had my own mother around, I’ve always been determined to be a very present mother with my children, and I know Eugenie will be the same with hers,” Sarah told Us in January 2021 of her daughter’s pregnancy. “She is incredibly empathetic and will be a great mother. She is a very strong and determined person, always looking for the truth in all she does.”

Eugenie later welcomed son Ernest in June 2023, while Beatrice gave birth to daughters Sienna and Athena in September 2021 and January 2025, respectively. (Beatrice is also stepmother of her husband’s son from a previous relationship.)

Sarah often babysits her grandchildren, who call her “GG.”

“While Beatrice was away in Jordan [for the royal wedding], I was allowed to have Sienna over to play and to stay with me,” Sarah said on her “Tea Talks” podcast in June 2023. “It was very nice. The last couple of days, I’ve managed to really have a bond [with her], and guess what my bond is? I gave her a little sip of tea out of my teacup!”

2023

Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2023 and underwent a mastectomy. In January 2024, the author was also diagnosed with skin cancer.

“The whole York family has rallied round, and I couldn’t have got through it without them,” she told Platinum magazine in July 2024. “My girls in particular have been rock solid in their support. We always call ourselves ‘the tripod’ as we are there to prop each other up through thick and thin, and they have certainly demonstrated that in recent months.”

Beatrice revealed on This Morning months earlier in May 2024 that her mom was “all in the clear.”

“She’s such a phenomenal icon,” Beatrice said. “As a mum she’s been amazing, she’s been through so much and her sense of purpose and resilience really keeps me going. At 64 she’s thriving; she’s been through so much, but I think really now she’s coming into her own.”

2026

Andrew was arrested for alleged misconduct in public office in February 2026 after being accused of sharing confidential intel with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Andrew was released from jail within hours, while his daughters retreated from the public eye.

“Eugenie and Beatrice have had to change their upcoming public-facing plans and future plans this year,” a source told Us in March 2026. “They aren’t as worried about Andrew being arrested and going to jail, but they are still horrified that he’s involved in this and worry there could be more to come.”

According to the insider, Andrew’s scandal has “been devastating.”

“They are not actually planning on doing any public events in the near future because of everything surrounding their parents because they know that will be the focus,” a second insider told Us.

The sisters skipped the royal family’s Easter Sunday service in April 2026 and plan to miss the Royal Ascot horse race in June 2026.
