Instagram has a new logo, and I’m not sure how I feel about it.
The cursive “Instagram” we’ve seen at the top of the app will no longer be entirely cursive, the Meta-owned social media app’s leader says.
“The wordmark at the top of the app hasn’t changed in 10 years, so it was time for a refresh,” Instagram head Adam Mosseri said in the caption of his post unveiling the new logo. Mosseri called the new logo “cleaner and more modern.” It references the original logo’s signature script but is a bit simpler.
Comments under the post were limited and reviews were decidedly mixed. Some Instagram users love it, while others joked about the logo reading “Instagzam,” raising questions about the “r” in the logo. Others questioned the logo change as a whole.
“It’s all been created to flex and grow alongside Instagram and the people who make it a special place,” Instagram said in a blog post.
The company says the new logo will roll out globally throughout the rest of the year and beyond.
