Police have arrested a man following the suspicious death of a woman whose body was discovered inside a home in Melbourne’s north.
Homicide detectives are examining the circumstances surrounding the death of the 44-year-old, who they say was seriously assaulted in Epping on Thursday evening.
Emergency services responded to reports of an unresponsive woman at a property on Gottloh Street at 5.50pm.
Paramedics attended the home, but the woman died at the scene. A 50-year-old Lalor man was later arrested on Thursday night and will be interviewed by police.
Police believe the pair were known to each other.
While the cause of death is still undetermined, police are treating the death as suspicious.
The investigation remains ongoing and police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or who may have CCTV or dash-cam footage.
