A 41-year-old man was charged with murder Saturday in the slaying of a Washington Heights mom who was beaten to death in front of her 7-year-old daughter, police said.
Photos obtained by The Post show Tiliek Shamel Thompson, 41, flanked by detectives as he was escorted out of the 33rd Precinct station house after being charged in the death of 27-year-old Lovay Williams.
Thompson surrendered at the 33rd Precinct earlier Saturday, according to his attorney, Neville Dexter.
“He’s at the precinct right now,” Dexter said before the arrest was announced.
Cops found Williams dead shortly after 1:30 p.m. Sept. 6 while conducting a wellness check at her 535 W. 156th St. apartment near Amsterdam Avenue, police said.
Williams had suffered injuries to her face and neck and was unresponsive when cops arrived, police said. EMS pronounced her dead at the apartment.
Her 7-year-old daughter was inside the apartment at the time.
Thompson had initially been identified by cops as a person of interest in the killing.
Dexter said someone had been implicating his client on social media before Thompson surrendered.
“Everybody should reserve judgement,” the lawyer said. “We don’t know what happened.”
Williams’ brother, Nuquan Williams, told The Post before Thompson’s arrest that whoever killed his sister should be held accountable.
“Man up to the things you did!” he said. “It was horrific. You don’t deserve to walk the streets and enjoy life when you took a life.”
Asia Walker, who described herself as Williams’ “God sister,” said Thompson and Williams had been together “for a while.”
“It’s confusing to me because we knew this man for too long,” Walker said. “I don’t even know what caused this. I can’t remember her saying they even argued before.”
Walker had said Thompson turning himself in would bring some relief to Williams’ family.
“Honestly, I know we ain’t gotta worry about him hurting nobody else and my niece can be at ease,” she said. “Tomorrow will be a little better for me. I could sleep at night.”
Balloons, flowers and candles now mark a memorial outside Williams’ apartment building.
