A missing Long Island swimmer who disappeared into towering waves churned by a deadly nor’easter is alive and well, state police revealed Sunday.
The still-unidentified man contacted authorities after learning he was the subject of a search off Robert Moses State Park, according to a joint statement from New York State Police and New York State Park Police.

“The individual was located alive and well, and no further assistance from the public is needed at this time,” the statement reads.
The swimmer sparked fears Saturday when he was spotted jumping — and apparently vanishing — into 18-foot waves near Field 3 on Fire Island’s western tip.
