A teenager has been rushed to hospital after being shot in the chest in Sydney’s south-west on Thursday night in what police believe was a targeted attack.
The man, believed to be in his late teens, was discovered by first responders in the passenger seat of an abandoned black station wagon on Mimosa Road, Greenacre just after 9pm on Thursday, suffering from gunshot wounds to his chest.
Several ambulance crews were deployed to the scene, including the aerial support helicopter, and treated the man in the passenger seat of the car before he was transferred to hospital in a stable condition.
Police believe the man was driven to Mimosa Road from a nearby street in Sydney’s south-west, before the driver and potential other passengers vacated the car.
Police discovered a burnt-out Toyota Hilux on Celia Street, Granville – about 11 kilometres north of Greenacre – at 3am on Friday, which has been strongly linked to the shooting.
The burnt-out Hilux has been seized for forensic examination.
The assailants remain at large on Friday morning.
