Whether you’re looking for a massive free community celebrations or a ticketed stadium spectacle, here are the best places to catch fireworks for America’s 250th birthday.
Dodger Stadium
Baseball and fireworks are a classic Fourth of July combination, and the Dodgers host a special home game on the holiday, followed immediately by one of the city’s most iconic light shows. Inside the stadium is ideal, but if you don’t have tickets, locals pack into nearby Elysian Park to catch a free view of the show.
Marina del Rey
One of LA’s beloved waterfront traditions returns on July 4, when fireworks light up the sky above Marina del Rey at 9 p.m. complete with synchronized musical score. The show is launched from a barge in the marina and can be viewed from multiple spots around the harbor, including Burton Chace Park and Fisherman’s village.
Huntington Beach
Huntington Beach’s famous “Fireworks Over the Ocean” show kicks off at 9 p.m., drawing 50,000 people each year. The event is part of a larger celebration that spans three days, and includes a parade, a 5K run, a carnival and more. Viewing the fireworks from the beach is free, but people can also purchase $40 tickets to catch them from a seat reserved on the pier.
Hollywood Bowl
Few places can match the spectacle of fireworks exploding above the iconic Hollywood Bowl. The venue’s annual July Fourth celebration combines live music and one of LA’s most recognizable fireworks displays, making it a bucket-list experience for many Angelenos. This year, Grammy and Emmy winner Harry Connick, Jr. will headline the show.
Long Beach
Long Beach is pulling out all the stops for the nation’s 250th birthday with “Sea to Shining LBC: America 250,” a week long celebration culminating in one of Southern California’s biggest waterfront fireworks spectacular.
